Actor Karishma Tanna recently opened up about how daily walking has been helping her during pregnancy. The actor, who is expecting her first child, shared that staying active has made a major difference to her physical and mental well-being.
Karishma said that while pregnancy is beautiful, body changes, tiredness, and weight gain are very real experiences for expecting mothers. According to her, daily movement becomes important during this phase.
She revealed that even 20–30 minutes of walking every day can help reduce swelling, stiffness, mood swings, sleep issues, and digestion problems.
Her message to moms-to-be was simple: “Be gentle, but don’t stop moving.”
What Experts Say

According to the report published in The Indian Express Dr Sujata Rathod, Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at KIMS Hospital, Thane, moderate walking is considered one of the safest exercises during a healthy pregnancy.
Dr Rathod explained that regular walking can:
- Improve blood circulation
- Support healthy weight gain
- Reduce back pain and stiffness
- Improve mood and sleep quality
- Help maintain energy levels
She also stressed that pregnancy is not the time for intense workouts. The goal should be staying active, not exhausting the body.
When Should Pregnant Women Avoid Exercise?
Experts advise caution for women with:
- High-risk pregnancy
- Bleeding
- High blood pressure
- Placenta-related complications
- History of preterm labour
Such women should consult their doctor before starting any exercise routine.
Experts believe that consistency matters more than intensity during pregnancy. Gentle daily movement can benefit both mother and baby.
