Karachi Woman Gives Birth to 5 Babies (quintuplets) at Once

A woman in Karachi’s Baldia Town has given birth to five babies simultaneously—three girls and two boys—at a private hospital.

According to hospital sources, the quintuplets were delivered prematurely at just 29 weeks through an emergency C-section. Due to low birth weight and respiratory issues, all five newborns were placed on oxygen support in the neonatal intensive care unit. Doctors say their condition is gradually improving under constant medical supervision.

Having five babies at once (quintuplets) is extremely rare.

According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), naturally occurring quintuplets happen in about 1 out of every 5 crore (50 million) births.

The father, Adnan Sheikh, stated that while the babies’ condition has improved, the high cost of treatment at the private hospital is a financial challenge. He appealed to the government, welfare organizations, and generous individuals to come forward and support the ongoing treatment and care of his newborns.

Medical experts stress that the early days are vital for premature infants, who often require intensive monitoring and support to survive and develop healthily. The hospital confirms that the babies are stable but will remain under close observation.
