“People can be very insensitive. Even the bhajiwala didn’t spare me. I remember feeling depressed and angry,” Sameera admitted.

Mumbai: Actress Sameera Reddy has spoken candidly about one of the most challenging phases of her life—battling postpartum depression while facing constant trolling over her weight gain.

In a recent interview with Zoom, Sameera revealed how her body changed drastically after pregnancy and how the harsh comments from people, including strangers, deeply affected her. “After I gave birth, I put on so much weight because I was pumped with hormones. I touched 105 kilos. It was a rough time emotionally, and dealing with postpartum made it even harder. I went from being absolutely slim to this new version of myself, and I was confused. In the beginning, I was affected by what people said,” she shared.

The actress recalled being mocked not just online but even in real life. “People can be very insensitive. Even the bhajiwala (vegetable vendor) didn’t spare me. I remember feeling depressed and angry. Nobody could understand what I was going through, and I won’t lie—it did hurt me,” Sameera admitted.

This isn’t the first time she has spoken about her struggle. In 2022, Sameera had penned an emotional note on Instagram, describing how postpartum depression (PPD) hit her hard after her first child.

She wrote, I questioned myself so many times if I should have a second baby. I was a complete wreck after my firstborn. PPD hit me like a brick. I lost control of my body and my self-worth, and it took a toll on my marriage because I had no clue how to handle it. But I was blessed to have a rock-solid husband, supportive in-laws, and family who never let go of my hand.”

Sameera married entrepreneur Akshai Varde in a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony on January 21, 2014. The couple is parents to two children—son Hans (born in 2015) and daughter Nyra (born in 2019).
