District Magistrate Avinash Singh ordered strict police action against the accused medical staff.

Bareilly: Authorities sealed a private hospital in Bhojipura, Bareilly, after a newborn died and the mother was left in critical condition when doctors allegedly left a surgical cloth inside her abdomen during delivery, officials confirmed on Monday.

District Magistrate Avinash Singh ordered strict police action against the accused medical staff.

The complaint was filed by Tahir Khan, who alleged that on June 3, 2025, the doctors at the hospital performed a C-section on his wife, resulting in the death of their baby. Doctors later informed the family that the baby had died during surgery and discharged her without thorough medical checks.

Soon after, she developed severe abdominal pain and infection. Tests at another hospital revealed that a surgical cloth had been left inside her stomach during the procedure. Her condition worsened, forcing doctors to remove her uterus to save her life.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Vishram Singh said a two-member probe panel—comprising a gynaecologist and the deputy CMO—has been constituted. “An FIR has been registered against the hospital staff. Further action will follow once the committee submits its report. The woman’s condition is now stable,” he added.
