Around 8,000 people, including the heads of 24 khap councils, gathered to bless the newborn daughter.
Jind: In a heartwarming celebration, a couple from Thua village in Haryana’s Jind district welcomed a baby girl after 19 years of marriage. Overjoyed at the arrival of their daughter, whom they named Bhoomi, the family hosted a grand feast, inviting residents from 21 villages.
The festivities included traditional rituals, DJ music, and a lavish spread of delicacies. Around 8,000 people, including the heads of 24 khap councils, gathered to bless the newborn. The child’s maternal uncle expressed his joy by generously showering money during the event.

The celebration took place at the home of Surender, the vice-president of the Kaliraman khap. Surender, who married Krishna on June 9, 2006, had no children for many years and had adopted his elder brother’s son.
A Message to Society
Surender shared that despite several attempts, the couple could not have a child for many years. Krishna would conceive, but the pregnancy would end in a miscarriage during the second or third month. She endured this heartbreak more than 10 times.
When they consulted doctors, specialists at PGI informed them that the issue was linked to Krishna’s blood group, which significantly reduced the chances of carrying a pregnancy to term.
A year ago, Krishna conceived again. The pregnancy progressed without complications, and on July 10, she delivered a healthy baby girl through a normal delivery. “This celebration is a message to society that daughters and sons are equal,” said Surender.
