Now, Diabetes Control will be Easy: AI to Predict Blood Sugar Levels with Accuracy

As a large section of the country’s population struggles with diabetes, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a crucial tool in managing the condition. Researchers at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela have developed an AI-powered technology that can accurately predict blood sugar levels in diabetic patients.

The research team focused on improving glucose prediction by using deep learning techniques. The AI model studies past blood sugar trends and then forecasts future levels with remarkable accuracy, surpassing traditional methods used so far.

This AI-based model autonomously processes glucose data, identifies key patterns, and provides precise predictions. The breakthrough comes from a team led by Assistant Professor Mirza Khalid Beg of NIT’s Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering.

He states, “According to the 2023 ICMR INDIAB study, 11.4% of India’s population has diabetes, while 15.3% falls under the prediabetic category. Hence, it is crucial to develop innovative solutions to tackle this issue.”

Experts believe that AI-powered digital health technologies could significantly enhance diabetes management. They not only improve patient care but also help reduce medical expenses, making diabetes management more efficient and cost-effective.
