Dr. Preetha Reddy advocates for wider adoption of robotic-assisted surgery to address the growing burden of gynaecological diseases in India.

A recent gynaecological conference in Chennai highlighted the importance of advanced technology, particularly robotic surgery, in improving patient outcomes. Dr. Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, emphasized the need for widespread adoption of robotic-assisted surgery to tackle the increasing prevalence of gynaecological diseases in India.

The four-day conference, organized by the Asia Pacific Association for Gynaecologic Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Therapy (APAGE), attracted over 500 delegates from India and abroad. During the event, gynecologic surgeons were trained in cutting-edge robotic surgery techniques using the da Vinci robotic system.

Dr. Reddy stressed the significance of training more surgeons in robotic-assisted techniques to meet the growing demand for advanced gynaecological care. She expressed confidence that the conference would inspire many to embrace robotic surgery and contribute to the betterment of healthcare in India.

The conference featured live surgery demonstrations, collaborative sessions, and hands-on training in minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches for gynaecological oncology. Dr. Kurian Joseph, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, noted the success of the event in fostering knowledge exchange and skill development among participants.

Dr. Arnold Advincula, a Minimally Invasive Gynaecologic Surgeon at Columbia University Medical Centre, emphasized the need for comprehensive education programs to address the skill gap in robotic surgery. He highlighted the rising incidence of gynaecological disorders in India and the crucial role of advanced surgical interventions in improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram, a prominent gynaecologist at Apollo Hospital, praised the conference for providing a dynamic learning environment. She emphasized that familiarization programs like this would encourage more surgeons in India to adopt robotic surgery, leading to better patient outcomes and faster recovery times.
