A 66-Year-Old Woman Becomes a Mother for the 10th Time, Credits to Healthy Lifestyle

Becoming a mother is a special experience for every woman, but if someone gives birth at the age of 66 for the 10th time, it is nothing short of a ‘miracle.’ As age progresses, the journey of motherhood becomes more challenging. However, a 66-year-old woman has recently astonished the world by embracing motherhood once again.

Alexandra Hildebrandt, a resident of Germany, has shocked everyone by giving birth to her 10th child at the age of 66. Her journey of motherhood spans nearly five decades, as she had her first child in 1977. This news has gone viral on the internet, with people applauding her incredible courage and deep sense of motherhood.

Alexandra Calls it a ‘Divine Gift’

The baby, a boy named Philipp, was delivered weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces, through a cesarean section on March 19 at Charité Hospital in Berlin. Doctors took precautions and placed the baby in an incubator immediately after birth to ensure his well-being. What has astonished everyone the most is that Alexandra conceived naturally, without the use of IVF or any other assisted reproductive techniques.

Alexandra Hildebrandt expressed her feelings to Today.com saying, “This is a blessing from God, and I consider it a divine gift.” Her story has sparked debates on social media, with some people calling it a ‘miracle,’ while others believe it was a medically risky decision.

Philipp joins his siblings: Svitlana, 46; Artiom, 36; Elisabeth, 12; Maximilian, 12; Alexandra, 10; Leopold, 8; Anna, 7; Maria, 4; Katharina, 2.

Speaking about her health, Alexandra said,

“I have always followed a very healthy lifestyle. I swim regularly for an hour, walk for two hours, and neither drink alcohol nor smoke. I have never used contraceptives.”

Is It Safe for Health?

Medical experts state that pregnancy complications increase with age, but advancements in medical science have made it possible for older women to conceive. However, Alexandra Hildebrandt’s case remains extremely rare.

Dr. Brian Levine, a fertility expert at New York City’s fertility clinic CCRM, explains that the chances of a 66-year-old conceiving naturally are “incredibly low” and pose risks like hypertension, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor.

Additionally, the risk for chromosomal abnormalities, such as Down syndrome, also rises with age.

Levine suggests that it’s possible she hasn’t reached menopause if she has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder that affects ovaries.

Notably, in 2023, 70-year-old Safina Namukwaya from Uganda gave birth to twins via IVF using donor eggs and her husband’s sperm. Two days after delivery, she expressed gratitude, stating,

“God decided I would have twins at 70. No one can limit His power.”

These rare cases continue to astonish medical professionals and spark global discussions on late pregnancies.
