Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor recently spoke about gaining weight after the birth of her son, Vayu. She revealed that she was ‘traumatised’ as she had put on 32 kilos after her pregnancy, but she was so engrossed with her baby, she didn’t think about weight loss.

On the podcast Fashionably Pernia, Sonam shared the changes she made to her life on the fashion front post-childbirth. She said, “I gained 32 kilos. Honestly, initially I was traumatised. You are so obsessed with your baby, you are really not thinking about working out, eating right. It took me a year and a half. I took it really slow; you have to be slow because you have to adjust to the new you.”

The ‘Neerja’ actor explained how a woman’s life changes after giving birth to a baby. Despite gaining weight, Sonam tried to accept her body the way it was.

She shared, “Everything in your life changes. Your relationship with yourself changes, with your husband it changes, everything changes. You are never going to feel the same about your body. I have always accepted myself for who I am and I was like I need to accept this version of myself.”

Earlier this year, Sonam posted a photo of herself post her workout session and in the caption, she wrote about shedding those 20 kilos. “What a wow, 20 kgs down. Six more to go,” she had captioned the photo.

Slowly steadily, without any crash diets and crazy workouts, just consistent self-care and baby care. I’m not there yet but almost where I want to be.. still very very grateful for my body and how incredible it has been. Being a woman is a wondrous thing (sic).”
