Ghaziabad: A Ghaziabad man has alleged that a large piece of medical gauze was left inside his wife’s abdomen following a cesarean delivery (C-Section) causing her weeks of intense pain, high fever, and distress before it was finally detected and surgically removed.
According to Chirag Katari, his wife Divya Khurana underwent a C-section at a Ghaziabad hospital in late May. But even after being discharged, she continued to suffer from persistent abdominal pain and fever, with no clear diagnosis.
It wasn’t until July 10—over a month later—that imaging tests revealed a foreign object inside her body. Doctors at a private hospital in Patparganj, Delhi, removed a gauze cloth roughly the size of a towel in a three-hour-long surgery the following day, Katari claimed.
He has accused the gynaecologist who performed the cesarean, Dr. Nishi Sirohi, of withholding information, obstructing further treatment at another facility, and referring them to a pathologist who allegedly failed to provide medical reports critical for diagnosis.

Dr. Sirohi has denied all allegations, calling them “baseless” and stating that she is fully cooperating with the inquiry.
Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ghaziabad confirmed that a three-member committee—comprising medical experts including a gynaecologist—has been set up to investigate the matter.
The incident has raised serious concerns about post-surgical negligence and patient rights in private healthcare facilities.
