KDMC Starts SAANS Campaign To Encourage Early Treatment And Increase Awareness Of Childhood Pneumonia

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation’s Health Department launched the SAANS (Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) campaign from November 12 to February 28, aiming to raise awareness about childhood pneumonia.

According to health officials, pneumonia is the most common disease in children aged between 1 and 5. However, a minor infection can turn into a serious illness. The awareness campaign started under the banner of SAANS, which will reduce the mortality of children under the age of 5 years due to pneumonia.

Dr. Deepa Shukla, Medical Officer of KDMC, appeals to the parents to seek medical help if their child shows symptoms like cough, cold, rapid breathing, chest tightness, or fever. She urges the citizens of the city that if their children have symptoms, they should get early treatment for pneumonia, if ignored, pneumonia can become a serious illness.

The campaign’s slogan is “Pneumonia nahi, toh bachpan sahi” (No pneumonia, a healthy childhood).
