Quadruplets Born Prematurely, Safely Discharged After a Month of Intensive Care

After spending a month under specialized medical care, four prematurely born newborns in Rajasthan, have returned home safe and healthy, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

On January 10, 2025, a woman gave birth to quadruplets at the Government Amrit Kaur Hospital in Beawar district, Rajasthan. These newborns were delivered almost a month before the expected due date and had lower-than-standard birth weights. Their birth weights were recorded as 1.5 kg, 1.3 kg, 1.2 kg, and 1.7 kg, respectively.

Due to their low birth weight, the babies’ survival and future were at risk. Recognizing the critical situation, Dr. Vidya Saxena and her team provided specialized neonatal care immediately after birth and admitted all four newborns to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) for treatment.

Discharged After a Month of Intensive Care

After receiving intensive care and treatment for a month, all four babies were discharged from the hospital on February 10, 2025. At the time of discharge, their weights had improved to 1.56 kg, 1.38 kg, 1.3 kg, and 1.9 kg, respectively.

Project Director Dr. Pradeep Choudhary stated that initially, the newborns were kept on oxygen support and provided continuous breastfeeding through CLMC. Gradually, the babies started breathing normally on their own, and their weight showed significant improvement.

An official stated that maternal and child healthcare services in the state are continuously being strengthened and improved. As a result, quality medical services are becoming increasingly accessible to the public in government hospitals.
